Okay, we know that we promote and hire people into new leadership roles and frequently keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. I've developed onboarding programs that support transition and growth of new leaders in a cohort learning group. Core competencies (generic or customized) serve as the framework for learning over a three-to-six month time frame. Leaders develop core skills, create a network of peers, learn from each other, have a place where it's okay to not know the answer, and have access to a wealth of resources (because after all, we're only as good as our resources).
